All month long, WLRN and our partners at O, Miami Poetry Festival have been collecting poems either starting or ending in "That's So Miami" and compiling them on our Tumblr page. We have seen some amazing poems, and as the month begins to wind down we have decided to put the best of these poems up for vote.
One of such themes is odes, or love letters, to the city that we call home. And the winner of this particular category comes with a prize: a three day, two night It's So Miami staycation, courtesy of the Betsy Hotel in South Beach and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, the folks promoting So Miami moments via @MiamiandBeaches and Visit Miami.
We are also looking for the Best Ode to Miami's Flaws; Best Ode to Miami Food; Best Ode to Miami Spanglish; and Best Ode to Miami Traffic. All winners will be announced at our That's So Miami Contest Reading this Sunday, April 28 at 4:30pm at the Betsy Hotel. The winners will also be invited to share the stage with Richard Blanco, the Presidential Inaugural poet, and read their winning poem at the O, Miami finale the same day at the New World Symphony at 7pm.
See below for the five Best Odes to Miami, and be sure to vote in the Poll Daddy poll at the bottom of the page!
