That's So Miami: Submit Your Poem, Win A 'Staycation'

@gretamuna

We live in one of the best cities, proven by the fact that millions of people vacation here every year. But even in paradise, we get caught up in our daily routines. We let weeks or even months go by without heading to the beach, closing our eyes and enjoying the sounds, aromas and tastes that make our home such a worldwide draw.

We're here to help.

Thanks to our friends at the Greater Miami Visitors and Conventions Bureau and The Betsy-South Beach, the Best Ode to Miami in our That's So Miami Poetry Contest will receive a It's So Miami "Staycation" Package.

Here is what you would win: 3 Days, 2 Nights at The Betsy-South Beach Continental breakfast for two, courtesy of BLT-Steak @ the Betsy Spa treatment, courtesy of Betsy's RoofDeck Spa and Wellness Garden A bottle of bubbly on arrival and a book of poetry, courtesy of The Betsy Writer's Room Valid from May 1 to November 15, 2013. Subject to availability. Requires advance booking.

All you have to do is tell us why you love where you live in verse.  Remember: All poems must either start or end with "That's So Miami." Submissions can be made here.

For the staycation prize, we're looking for the Best Ode to Miami.  But we also want the Best Hate Letter to Miami, Best Spanglish Verse, Best Traffic Ballad and Best Food Poem.  All of the winners will receive free tickets to the O Miami grand event with presidential inauguration poet Richard Blanco at the New World Center on Sunday, April 28th at 7pm.

The winners will be announced at our "That's So Miami" Contest Reading

  • When:  Sunday, April 28 from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: B Bar at The Betsy-South Beach, 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach
