Anti-Church And State Group Adds Seasonal Banner To Capitol

The Madison, Wis., group Freedom From Religion Foundation has brought in a seasonal display for the first-floor rotunda of the Florida Capitol, days after the Florida Prayer Network put up a privately funded nativity scene depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.

The foundation, a non-profit that advocates for non-theists and promotes the separation of church and state, proclaimed its "Bill of Rights nativity" banner as a counter to the nativity scene.

These Fireworks Might Be Illegal, But They Are Easy To Buy

Assortment packages, which bundle many different types of fireworks, are some of Phantom's most popular items.

For Miami-Dade residents, fireworks may be illegal, but they are easy to get. At Phantom Fireworks in Key Largo, the week leading up to the Fourth of July is the busiest time of the year.

The pyrotechnics outlet draws customers not only from the Keys, but also from Miami-Dade County, where many of the store’s explosives cannot be sold legally.

The shop has seen about 1,000 customers per day and has stayed open until one AM for the past week, according to store manager Kary Singh.

But, the sweat and dehydration is all worth it when nightfall comes, and we get to sit back and watch fireworks crack and sparkle over brilliant skylines and dark, reflecting waters. South Florida is definitely a great place to watch fireworks.

Slideshow: West Palm Beach Marks The Holidays In Florida Fashion

The company Team Sandtastic created 7 different holiday themed sand sculptures for the City of West Palm Beach.

For the second year in a row, West Palm Beach has opted to decorate the city in a very South Florida fashion this holiday season.

Large, intricate holiday themed sand sculptures have been erected all down Clematis Street between Rosemary Avenue and the waterfront.

City of West Palm Beach spokesman Elliot Cohen said the sculptures have been more than festive, they've been good publicity. The largest sculpture is a 35-foot-tall Christmas tree made with 400 tons of sand.
