Fort Lauderdale’s War Memorial Auditorium, inside Holiday Park, has been hosting gun shows seven times a year for the last 30 years. On Tuesday, the City Commission announced at a conference meeting that it’s looking to end those shows later this year.

Charlie King lives in the city’s Victoria Park neighborhood and frequently speaks in front of the commission. He told commissioners at the meeting that he doesn’t like the gun show location.

Fort Lauderdale’s City Hall was packed Tuesday night. All of the candidates running to be the next city commissioners and mayor of the city faced questions from Sun Sentinel political reporter, and the debate's moderator, Brittany Wallman.

The debate was held four parts. The three mayoral candidates went first, followed by separate debates for city commission candidates running for districts two, three and four.

The race to be the next mayor of Fort Lauderdale is on. The three candidates for the position debated at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Thursday night.

Questions for Bruce Roberts, Charlotte Rodstrom and Dean Trantalis came from a panel of journalists and Sun Sentinel readers, and mainly focused on the city’s infrastructure and sewer issues.
