WLRN News Wins 13 Awards In Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Competition

Gina Jordan won first place in the General Assignment, Long Format category for her story, 'The Tug of War Over Florida's Affordable Housing Fund.'

WLRN News took home nine first place and four runner-up awards at this year's Florida Associated Press Broadcasters competition.

Results were announced at a gala event April 8 in Orlando. One WLRN News story, "We Spent the Night on a Nuclear Submarine," by Sammy Mack and Wilson Sayre, captured first place in two categories -- Feature | Light News and Use of Sound for Radio.

A record 38 broadcast organizations submitted 536 entries in the contest, which featured reports, stories, programs and digital content from the year 2016.
