World War II: The Price of Empire

8pm NAZI MEGA WEAPONS - History - Uncover the engineering feats that sparked a technological revolution and changed warfare forever.

V2 ROCKET - The first ever long-range rockets were designed and built by the Nazis in a network of top-secret research labs, underground silos and hi-tech launch pads. This is the story of how scientist Werner von Braun heralded the birth of ballistic missiles and laid the technological foundations for the space race.

9pm WORLD WAR II: PRICE OF EMPIRE - History - Two conflicts at opposite sides of the globe lead to a new political map of the modern world.

BLITZKRIEG - In 1940 the Japanese turns back a Chinese counter-offensive – at the same time, war simply explodes across Western Europe with the Blitzkrieg German invasion of France. The Germans learned from the stalemate of the Western Front, they invested in mobile armour, airborne troops, air power on the battlefield and their assault is irresistible. France falls, the British Army is evacuated from Dunkirk and Britain stands alone, awaiting invasion. Germany does not have the naval power to invade, the Royal Navy is still the strongest maritime force.

It was filmed exclusively by drone camera on location on some of the most iconic locations in Normandy, France, including: Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, Utah Beach, Brecourt Manor, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Pointe-du-Hoc, Omaha Beach, La Fiere, The Richard Winters Leadership Monument, and more. The modern-day aerial footage is accompanied by interviews with World War II veterans, mixed with archival footage of the June 6, 1944 “D-Day” invasion, along with newly created maps and photo animations.
