Weapons and War

8pm NAZI MEGA WEAPONS - History - This series uncovers the engineering feats that sparked a technological revolution and changed warfare forever.

SUPER TANKS

Hitler’s megalomaniac impulses lead him to demand the construction of the largest tank the world had ever seen — a mobile fortress weighing 180 tons. But even this colossus doesn't satisfy his thirst, as he requests a 1,000-ton land battleship. This is the story of the engineers tasked with fulfilling that dream, and an arms race that resulted in the evolution of super-guns and tanks.

9pm WWII - The Price of Empire - History - A tale of two wars that have often been labeled as a single, all-encompassing global clash: the War of the East and the War of the West. Taking place of opposite sides of the globe, these simultaneous conflicts redrew the political map of the modern world as once-dominant powers fell and new ones rose to take their place.

BLITZKRIEG

War explodes across Western Europe. Blitzkrieg – the German invasion of France. The Germans learned from the stalemate of the Western Front, invested in mobile Armour, airborne troops, air power on the battlefield and their assault proves irresistible. France falls, the British Army is evacuated from Dunkirk and Britain stands alone, awaiting invasion.

10pm PEARL HARBOR: INTO THE ARIZONA - History - On the eve of the 75th anniversary, join the first expedition to explore inside the USS Arizona since the date that will live in infamy, as state-of-the-art imaging technology reveals the aftermath and incredible story of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Resting on the murky ocean floor of Pearl Harbor is the USS Arizona, one of the most sacred war graves known in the world. When the seasoned battleship was destroyed by a surprise Japanese attack 75 years ago in Pearl Harbor, over a thousand men aboard the ship lost their lives in a blink of an eye. Almost half of the total casualties from Pearl Harbor occurred on the Arizona alone. Few at that time understood how such a terrible tragedy could happen. America was forever changed by the events of this day, a day that has lived in infamy throughout time. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the single incident that pulled America into World War II, and changed the course of history.
