Want To Vote Early? Here's How To Do It In Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe And Palm Beach Counties

THE FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, BRUCE LIPSKY/AP PHOTO

Want to beat the projected crowds (and long lines) expected on Nov. 6? If you are a resident of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties you can do it by going to an early voting site starting Monday, Oct. 22 until Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018.

Floridians are voting for a new governor, agricultural commissioner, attorney general and a variety of congressional seats. Voters will also have to navigate their way through a long list of amendments and ballot questions (in South Florida, there are 105 possible questions) that are making this year's ballots up to five double-sided pages in some municipalities. Elections supervisors in  Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties have expressed concerns about the length of the ballot and advised voters to familiarize themselves with the issues at stake before going to the polls.

The early voting period is one of the options provided by the state of Florida to registered voters to exercise their right even if they are away or can't go to a polling station on election day. Voters can also request mail-in ballots (the deadline to do so is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018). You can find the instructions on how to do that here

Not every polling station will be open, though. There are specially designated early voting sites across the South Florida counties (please see the list below). This year the list includes sites on college campuses after a July 24 decision by a federal judge. You can vote at any early voting site in the county where you are registered.

Voters in all four counties have to bring a picture ID that has a signature. Although voters are allowed to bring a sample ballot or notes to make their way through all the issues in the ballot, Florida electoral law prohibits taking pictures in voting booths.

You can find detailed information about times and locations of early voting in your county below:
