Pottinger Agreement; George Barley Water Prize Finalists; Dr. Miami & Paula Poundstone

Comedian Paula Poundstone is performing at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts on Saturday Feb. 23 at 8 pm.

For 20 years, the Pottinger Agreement was a policy in the City of Miami that set strict rules and guidelines for police interaction with the homeless community to prevent violations of their civil rights. Last fall, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the City of Miami went to court after the city violated the agreement in their attempts to clear out homeless encampments. On Friday, Federal Court Judge Federico Moreno terminated the agreement. WLRN’s Daniel Rivero has been following the story and joined Luis Hernandez on Sundial for an update.

The four finalists of the George Barley Water Prize, a $10 million award granted by the Everglades Foundation to address toxic algae blooms through new technologies, were in West Palm Beach last week for final testing on their phosphorus removal systems. Last month, we heard from one of the finalists, Green Water Solutions from Wellington, Florida and on Wednesday's program we met the three other finalists from Idaho, West Virginia and the Netherlands. They joined Sundial to talk about how the solutions they are proposing.

Dr. Michael Salhauzer, also known as Dr. Miami, has gained an international following for live-streaming his plastic surgeries on various social media platforms. Now he's using his influence to create awareness about safety in plastic surgery procedures. Salhauzer and more than 100 members of  The World Association of Gluteal Surgeons (WAGS)  are defending the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure after a recent USA Today investigation reported on its dangers. Dr. Miami joined Sundial to talk about the death rates related to the procedure, the cost of these operations and how he launched his plastic surgery live streaming.
