Peace, Love, Protests & Groovy Music

THE 60'S GENERATION - Performance - Essential folk rock, R&B, and pop hits from the years 1965 to 1969-the era of change, peace, love, and protest music.

Following up on the same audience as The 60s Experience and This Land Is Your Land this program focuses on the years 1965 – 1969 and includes essential 60s folk rock, R&B and pop. The 8-CD features the biggest hits by the original 1960’s artists in this celebration and collection of “folks” that lived through the decade of change, peace, love and protest music.

Join hostess Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas for an all-star concert featuring the hippest hit-makers of the 1960s. Among the legendary artists who reunite on stage are blue-eyed soul icons The New Rascals ("People Got To Be Free"/"Groovin'"/"Good Lovin'"), rock-jazz fusion masters Blood, Sweat & Tears ("You've Made Me So Very Happy"), folk-rock pioneer Roger McGuinn of The Byrds ("Mr. Tambourine Man"), British blues-rocker Eric Burdon of The Animals ("It's My Life"), psychedelic sensation Iron Butterfly ("In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"), soft-rock favorites The Association ("Never My Love"), soul-pop duo Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr., formerly of The Fifth Dimension ("Wedding Bell Blues"), singer-songwriter Jackie DeShannon ("What The World Needs Now Is Love") and more.

Mia Laurenzo is a 35-year veteran of public television in Miami. She began her career learning every aspect of video production. Currently she is a writer, producer, on-air host and promotions coordinator for TV, radio and the web.  Her experiences include producing for a series, special events and historical documentaries.  As a native Floridian, she is a perfect fit for South Florida's Storyteller Station, WLRN.  She has produced several award winning, nationally distributed documentaries and is the recipient of three Suncoast Regional Emmys.
