Money For Mortimer and A Mother's Message

8pm OUR ZOO - Drama - The true story of the family who founded Chester Zoo in the 1930's. 

THE FUND OF CHESTER ZOO - June watches terrified as Albert hands George a rifle - Adam, the male bear, has escaped and is heading for Upton. George and Billy manages to track him down and bring him home, but during the struggle George receives a bad wound to his shoulder.  While he and Billy successfully get the bear back to Oakfield, George realizes the zoo needs more money to make the enclosures more secure, and the next day he requests a loan from the bank, but is refused. At the bank, George meets aristocrat Lady Goodwin, who takes a liking to Mortimer the squirrel monkey. She visits Oakfield to see Mortimer again, and George suggests she pay the Mottersheads a small amount of money per month to "adopt" the monkey. Meanwhile, Mrs Radler and Reverend Webb organize a petition to get the zoo closed.

MIND THE BUGS DON'T BITE - Alison tries to find out why the spirit of her own mother has not passed over. In an attempt to rebuild her broken family, Robert tries to track down her absent father. As Alison looks back on her own childhood, she realizes that unbeknown to the rest of her family, she was the first person to find her mother after she committed suicide - and that her failure to act has led her mother's spirit to come back and haunt her until she reveals the truth as to what really happened that day.

Mia Laurenzo is a 35-year veteran of public television in Miami. She began her career learning every aspect of video production. Currently she is a writer, producer, on-air host and promotions coordinator for TV, radio and the web.  Her experiences include producing for a series, special events and historical documentaries.  As a native Floridian, she is a perfect fit for South Florida's Storyteller Station, WLRN.  She has produced several award winning, nationally distributed documentaries and is the recipient of three Suncoast Regional Emmys.
