Authorities lifted the lockdown issued Friday morning at two Key Biscayne schools when an armed suspect eluded police after breaking into a home, said Key Biscayne Police.
St. Agnes Academy and Key Biscayne K-8 Center were put in lockdown late Friday morning as police searched for the suspect in an armed home invasion. Students and teachers remained safely in their classrooms during the search, according to both institutions.

Key Biscayne Police Chief Charles Press said the home invasion suspect has not been captured, but police lifted the lockdown because they believe the suspect left the area of the schools. Press said officers remain at St. Agnes Academy and the Key Biscayne K-8 Center.
A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Miami said classes at St. Agnes Academy will proceed normally for the rest of the day. Some parents and students were seen leaving the school, and bystanders applauded police officers as they drove out of the school's parking lot.
