Hialeah ranks as the worst city for Valentine’s Day, But That Will Not Stop Lovers

South Florida cities have a habit in making the “worst of the worst” lists. Most recently,WalletHub Best and Worst Cities for Valentine’s Day 2016 ranked Hialeah as the worst city for Valentine’s Day and Miami not too far behind ranking 82nd out of the 100 cities that were listed. (Hialeah also ranked second amongworst cities for singles.)

WalletHub ranked Hialeah as the sixth most expensive for restaurant meal cost and Miami as the fourth most expensive.

The ranking is based on a set of data of 15 key metrics, ranging from restaurant meal-cost, number of florists and jewelers per capita and number of attractions in the city.

South Florida business owners and nationwide business owners eagerly await Valentines Day to approach. According toForbes this year, all lovers will spend nearly $17.55 billion; all in the name of love. That is the second highest grossing holiday, second only to Christmas.

Out of the $17.55 billion spent on Valentine’s Day:

$1.76 billion will be spent on candy.

$1.99 billion will be spent on flowers.

$4.45 billion will be spend on earrings, necklaces and other jewelry.

According to Business Insider Hialeah is seventh among cities where people will spend the most on Valentine's Day.
