The Florida Roundup: Previewing The 2017 Legislative Session & The Borscht Film Festival Turns 10

Feb 26, 2017

This week on The Florida Roundup...

With less than two weeks to go before the start of Florida's Legislative session, we look at some of the most hotly-debated issues in Tallahassee, from whether to eliminate Florida's "gun-free" zones to how to address the state's growing opioid crisis. We speak with Tampa Bay Times' Tallahassee bureau chief Steve Bousquet, senior writer at The News Service of Florida Dara Kam and investigative reporter for The Palm Beach Post Pat Beall.

Also, there's a measure making its way through the legislature that could threaten Florida's open records law and some lawmakers want to limit enrollment in bachelors degree programs offered at community colleges--now called state colleges. WLRN's education reporter Rowan Moore Gerety joins the conversation.

Plus, the Borscht Film Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Not just with any party, but with a Viking funeral in the Everglades, a bring your-own-boat Jetski parade and more to complete your Borscth Diez experience. We're joined by chairman of the board for Borscht Corp. Brett Potter and film and entertainment reporter for The Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez.
