Under the stained glass of the Jewel Box building at the YoungArts Plaza, the National YoungArts Foundation will hold its first "Outside The Box" performance on Oct. 25.

Spokesperson Vanessa Leitman says the show will play off the building itself, using light and interpretive dance along with crowd interactivity. Leitman says the crowd will be able to suggest what happens as the show goes along.

"With 'Outside The Box,' we're excited that we're able to pull together a group of very different alumni," she says. "They'll be able to come together and put on this unique multidisciplinary performance"

Two-time Grammy nominee Dave Eggar will help curate the show, joined by dancer and choreographer Michelle de la Reza, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kate Davis, percussionist Jake Goldbas and dancers Ernest Baker, Andrew Nemr, Brittanie Brown and Allysen Hooks.

Leitman is excited for the event but knows it's just the beginning. Five more performances are planned in the series.

"The next show will be in December," she says. "We'll be able to incorporate other disciplines. The idea is to mix genres and do something unique and not typical."
