7pm TIGERS ABOUT THE HOUSE - Nature/Reality/Documentary Giles Clark is a tiger keeper with a difference, he takes his work home.

Sumatran tiger cubs Spot and Stripe are now outgrowing keeper Giles Clark's home and developing adult tiger behaviors. The time comes for them to leave the family home and reintegrate with the rest of the tigers at Australia Zoo.

As they move back to the zoo, Spot and Stripe's development is far from over. Giles gives the cubs their first swimming lesson, and they meet the adult tigers they are going to share their lives with. But all is not well with Spot, who is rapidly developing an eye condition that leaves him fighting for his life.

8pm NATURE: Snow Chick - Nature/Documentary

During two months of blizzards and frigid temperatures dipping to -80 degrees, each male Emperor penguin who breeds in Antarctica must nurture and protect a single egg that harbors his offspring. But once the eggs hatch by midwinter, these dads are ready to move on to their next stage of parenting. Snow Chick imagines the story of the youngest and last chick of the colony to emerge from his shell and the challenges he encounters growing up in the world’s most extreme nursery.

9pm UNSEEN EVERGLADES: Inside A Legendary Wilderness - Nature/Documentary

Flowing southward for hundreds of miles from the headwaters near Kissimmee to the Florida Bay, the Sunshine State's unique "River of Grass" is one of the world's most precious natural resources. "The Unseen Everglades: Inside a Legendary Wilderness", examines the history of this complex family of ecosystems and the spirited fight to restore, preserve and protect its unique habitats.

 

Mia Laurenzo is a 35-year veteran of public television in Miami. She began her career learning every aspect of video production. Currently she is a writer, producer, on-air host and promotions coordinator for TV, radio and the web.  Her experiences include producing for a series, special events and historical documentaries.  As a native Floridian, she is a perfect fit for South Florida's Storyteller Station, WLRN.  She has produced several award winning, nationally distributed documentaries and is the recipient of three Suncoast Regional Emmys.
