Joe Johnson

Morning Host

Joe Johnson is practically a Florida native. When he was four, his family moved to Miami from Brooklyn, NY. A year later, Joe caught up with them.

He also caught the radio bug at the age of 10 when he worked with his dad one summer filling vending machines. One of their weekly stops was top 40 station, WFUN in South Miami. Joe was mesmerized watching the deejay through the glass and the mold was cast from that day forward.

In 1978 ,Joe joined Love 94 FM as a co-host of the Morning Show. He moved to Majic 102.7 in 1986 where he spent 28.5 years as Creative Services Director, evening host, morning show host, then middays and Public Affairs host.

Most Beatle fans know Joe as the creator and host of the award winning Beatle Brunch radio show, which has aired locally since 1992 and is syndicated nationally by The Westwood One Radio Network & @ brunchradio.com.

Joe has won 6 A.I.R. (Achievement in Radio) awards for his on-air and production work, an Addy Award® for copywriting and in 2015 he was named “Best FM Personality” by The Broward – Palm Beach New Times Magazine. Joe’s interviewed Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Peter Frampton, Yoko Ono, Brian Wilson, Donny Osmond, Mike Douglas and Regis Philbin, among others.

When he’s not listening to 91.3 WLRN, Joe is the Music Host of several rock-themed cruises and also enjoys emceeing charity events including Florida’s Children First, The Smiling Faces Foundation, The South Florida SPCA and Special Operations Warrior Foundation events.

Joe J’s a local and national voiceover artist with a full studio at his home in Plantation. You may have heard him on commercials for Mardi Gras Casino, McDonalds, Kelloggs, Radio Shack or seen him interviewed on The Today Show, CNN or as on-camera host of pop music programs for the local PBS television station. For 10 years, Joe did stand-up at The Comic Strip and other clubs and has written monologue material for Jay Leno’s Tonight Show appearances.
