Whether they are answering phones during radio membership drives, conducting tours, reading for the blind, assisting with special events or performing key administrative tasks, WLRN’s corps of 1,000 volunteers play a vital role in the successful operation of the station.

Become a volunteer
91.3 FM Radio Pledge Drive Volunteer
Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow listeners, meet WLRN FM Radio personalities and support your public radio station by volunteering during our membership drives. Both individuals and groups (ranging from 5 to 10 people) are needed to help answer pledge calls from listeners pledging their financial support. If you value the variety of news, jazz and cultural programming heard daily on 91.3 FM, then join us during these yearly fundraising events.

Time commitment: The pledge drive is usually 6 days and 6 hours, shifts last anywhere from 2-4 hours. You may choose to work as many shifts as you like to. We have early morning, daytime, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts available.
Minimum Age: 16
TV Pledge Drive Volunteers
See what it's like behind the scenes at a TV studio. Groups of a minimum of 10 people are needed to appear live on-air answering incoming pledge calls during our March, June, August and December membership campaigns. This is a fun way for a business, service organization, club or community group to get together, gain a bit of publicity and help out a worthy cause. Participating groups will be recognized on-air during the TV pledge drive. Participating groups will be recognized on-air during the drive and in WLRN volunteer newsletter - "Just Between Friends."

Time commitment: In general shifts last anywhere from 4-6 hours. Shifts are available mostly during evening hours or on weekends.
When: March, June, August, December
Minimum Age: 16
Tour Guide
Be a WLRN Tour Guide and show the station to school groups and adult organizations. All WLRN volunteers are notified in advance of upcoming trainings.

Time commitment: Two hours per tour
Training: Six hours
