The Civil War is a documentary film created by Ken Burns and co-produced by his brother, Ric, that tells intimate and detailed stories about the American Civil War. More than 10 hours in length, the documentary has nine episodes that explore the Civil War through personal stories and photos. During the creation of the movie, Burns made extensive use of over 16,000 archival photographs, paintings, and newspaper images from the time of the war. The series' slow zooming and panning across the photos resulted in the coining of the term the "Ken Burns effect".

Motown 25

Motown 25 commemorates it's 25th anniversary which was founded in 1959.   Among the highlighted performances are: Michael Jackson's performance of "Billie Jean", Smokey Robinson's long awaited reunion with The Miracles, a Temptations/The Four Tops "battle of the bands", Marvin Gaye's inspired speech about black music history and his memorable performance of "What's Going On", a Jackson 5 reunion, and an abbreviated reunion of Diana Ross & The Supremes, who performed their final #1 hit, "Someday We'll be Together" from 1969.

IL-VOLO: Live from Pompeii

Il Volo performs at the arecheological ruins of Pompeii, in Italy. In that exclusive venue they perform some of the most wonderful classics like Volare as well as new songs, like Grande Amore.

If you've never heard il Volo sing, you are in for a treat. The three young Italian tenors, Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble  have incredible voices, and they showcase that with their fourth PBS special "Live From Pompei."

Serangoon Road

A detective drama set in the 1960s, revolving around Serangoon Road in Singapore.  The country is at a crossroads as the nation is about to break away from Malaysia and gain independence. The British colonial rulers are gradually pulling out of the country, while racial and political tensions are running high and the ensuing riots are threatening national security. Communist insurgency movements are active in neighboring countries and trying to push into Singapore.

Foyle's War - Fifty Ships (9 pm)

An American multi-millionaire, an old flame of Foyle's, and a mysterious man claiming to be a Dutch refugee, are all implicated when a dead body is discovered on a Hastings beach. Meanwhile, Sam looks for somewhere to live after her home is destroyed in a bombing raid. Foyle investigates a case of looting after coins go missing from the bombed out house Sam was living in.

VERA(9PM)​ - Muddy Waters

Detective Vera Stanhope is back on the case investigating chilling crimes only she can solve. This week Vera looks into the death of an unidentified man dredged up from a slurry pit on a remote farm. As the case unfolds, clues lead Vera and her team to a number of illegal immigrants working the farm and a traveling community close by that is harboring a lot of secrets. Can Vera connect the dots and solve the case?

FOYLE'S WAR(9pm)Eagle Day

In the course of investigating a murder, Foyle uncovers a plot to steal art treasures being moved from the local museum to Wales for safekeeping. Meanwhile, Foyle’s son files his first mission as a Royal Air Force pilot and is accused of passing top secret information to the enemy.

Treblinka's Last Witness (8 pm)

Samuel Willenberg, now 92 years old, is the last living survivor of the Treblinka death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland where an estimated 900,000 Jews were murdered in a period of just 13 months at the height of World War II. Still haunted 70 years later by the horrors he witnessed as a young forced laborer, Samuel has immortalized the Treblinka story in a series of bronze sculptures of the tragic victims who dwell indelibly in his memory like ghosts.
