“Shelter Me” is an inspiring series that celebrates shelter pets with positive and uplifting stories.

“Shelter Me” focuses on the success stories to bring more people into the shelters to give these incredible animals a second chance.

With stories ranging from adopted shelter dogs now volunteering at local hospitals to a family choosing a new feline friend to join their lives, “Shelter Me” emphasizes all of the positive work these animals contribute to the world.

Marine biologist Danni Washington fell in love with the ocean at 6 years old. She knew then that she would one day do something related to our saline waters. As founder of the Big Blue and You, she educates children about our oceans and why we need to protect them. For her everything in the ocean is in perfect balance… until humans get involved.

Lysa and Reuven Benami had plans to retire, but instead opened Mother Ocean Key Largo. Their funky consignment shop sells everything nautical – fishing gear, motorboat parts, ocean themed art and more. This shop is now one of Key Largo’s most popular stops, keeping Lysa and Reuven busier than ever.

Bob Roth left Miami Beach for Davie over 40 years ago to open New River Groves where he  sold oranges and other  fruit.  Little did he know that Key lime pies would put him on the map! We visit Bob at New River Groves , a charming store that’s reminiscent of  life in the  50’s and 60’s.

Victor Leong is affectionately known by many as the Sandman.  He has been building  sandcastles professionally on Miami Beach since 1992.

Andrew Hevia is a filmmaker from Miami. His films have been screened at festivals world wide, on the internet and on televisions across the country. Rising Tide is his first feature length documentary. He studied visual arts at the acclaimed New World School of the Arts, where he made experimental films and several narrative shorts.

Rising Tide: A Story of Miami Artists documentary features  seven visual  artists including:  Jen Stark, the  artist who burst onto the art scene with her meticulously crafted paper sculptures; Venessa Monokian,  a photographer and  microsculptor whose carefully constructed video works are enigmatic and mesmerizing while her small scale sculptures are playful and inviting; Justin Long and ‘Meatball Lorie’ , an art duo called “Funner Projects” who have built a 14 foot  mechanized crossbow that launches a  2 x 4 at over 14
