How Better Supervision Might Mean Better Principals In Broward County

The Wallace Foundation believes the people who supervise principals spend too much time making sure they follow rules and procedures -- and not enough time mentoring them.

So Wallace is launching a $30 million, five-year national experiment to test whether students benefit from principals who get more coaching.

Palm Beach School Board Kills Parental Dress Code Idea

UPDATE, April 24, 2014: At a Palm Beach County school board meeting Wednesday, April 23, members refused to even entertain the proposal of implementing a parental dress code.

The idea of dress codes for parents who come to events was proposed by board member Karen Brill, following the subject coming up in Broward County schools.

Booty shorts. Saggy pants. Tight, cleavage-baring tank tops. Even pajamas.

Broward County School Board Signs Agreement Aimed At Reducing On-Campus Arrests

The Broward County Public School Board aims to decrease the rate of arrests in public schools.

The Broward County School board teamed up with a group of community partners Tuesday to sign a collaborative agreement on school discipline. The agreement, first of its kind, establishes new guidelines for handling non-violent misdemeanor offenses on school campuses, outlining when law enforcement is necessary and when problems can be handled through school resources.
