Every day, thousands of people use the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to cross Tampa Bay. Hundreds of people also use the bridge to end their lives.

Hanns Jones is one of the people who jumped off the bridge for that reason.

But Jones survived.

Ann Romney Visits St. Petersburg Hospital

Ann Romney discussed her ordeal with multiple sclerosis during her stop at All Children’s Hospital.

After her emotional speech Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention, Ann Romney resumed the campaign today with a visit to St. Petersburg where she cut the ribbon to open a new physical therapy playground at All Children’s Hospital.

During the event, she found some common ground with 11-year-old Seth Morano of Sarasota.

Seconds after the pieces of red ribbon had fluttered to the ground in the shady playground Seth leaned back in his wheelchair, tilted his head for maximum projection and shouted a short message.

Green Card Stories


Green Card Stories (Umbrage Books) is a collection of profiles and photographs of fifty immigrants from around the country by journalist Saundra Amrhein and photographer Ariana Lindquist.  Amrhein has been a journalist for seventeen years.  She spent ten years at the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times.)  Immigrants profiled include a triathelete, a magician, a flea market worker, small business owners and executives.
