Wonderful!, "What I Did For Love," "Chances Are," "Misty, "Maria," Stranger in Paradise" and "A Certain Smile."

Mathis has been a household name since the summer of 1957 when he first appeared on Americans' television screens and was introduced to the record buying public. Mathis released a string of hits via Columbia Records, singing beautiful and romantic ballads, classic standards and the best songs from Broadway musicals. It was not uncommon for Mathis to have as many as four albums on the Billboard Top Albums chart at the same time. In late 1959, he recorded a song that became synonymous with the name of Johnny Mathis, the Erroll Garner composition, "Misty".

Mathis is one of the few recording artists to have Top 40 Hits spanning each of his first four decades as a recording artist. In 2013 his song with Jim Brickman "Sending You a Little Christmas" also became a hit, peaking at #4 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Mathis has received five Grammy nominations during his career, and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame three times for "Chances Are", "Misty", and "It's Not For Me To Say". He has also been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
