A Walk on the Wild Side

7 pm THIS WILD LIFE: Monkeys In The Kitchen - Nature/Documentary

Wildlife expert Saba Douglas-Hamilton, together with her husband Frank and their three young children, move to the romantic Samburu National Reserve in Kenya to run a safari camp for the first time.

IN THIS EPISODE: With the drought biting hard, food is in short supply and cheeky monkeys are taking over the family's safari camp. With water running short, Saba is struggling to give her guests the experience they expect. Frank and David set off on a dangerous mission to help the biggest bull elephant in northern Kenya.

7:30pm WONDER OF ANIMALS: Dolphins - Nature/Documentary

Chris Packham explores the success of the most widespread of marine mammals, the dolphin. Contrary to their amiable reputation, they are, in fact, ruthless predators. They hunt using a combination of specialized anatomy and complex communication, requiring a big brain.

Chris explains the inner workings of dolphin echolocation, reveals how a pod uses body movements to communicate the location of food and explores the strategies used by orcas during a hunt.

8pm NATURE: Nature's Miracle Orphans: Second Chances - Nature/Documentary

Growing up in the wild is hard enough on young animals when they have parents to rely on for protection and guidance, but what happens when they lose their parents? How do they survive? Over the past few years, great strides have been made in understanding how to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned wildlife. But as the documentary shows, success often comes down to the efforts of individuals at animal rescue centers around the world who devote their lives to saving these vulnerable creatures, getting them back on their feet and, hopefully, releasing them back into the wild.
