Transgender Bathrooms, Friction Among Democrats, Latino Voters, Fighting Zika

This week on The Florida Roundup: the White House directive to school districts about transgender students, political in-fighting among Democrats, the mobilization of Latino voters, and the Zika funding feud.

The Obama Administration says school districts need to allow transgender students to use bathrooms matching their gender identity. One state lawmaker calls the order intrusive. We talk with the head of the state’s second largest school district.

In the race for the White House, the South Florida leader of the Democratic Party is feuding withone of her party’s presidential candidates. Meantime, the Trump campaign has hired an architect of Governor Rick Scott’s successful races.

Also, lawmakers on Capitol Hill can’t agree on Zika funding. Florida lawmakers are coming up short of the spending they want as the virus spreads and mosquito season begins.
