When devastation on the scale of what we are seeing in Oklahoma City hits, the whole world feels the pain.
Especially in Miami, where we have had our city leveled and destroyed at various times in our history, notably Hurricane Andrew in August of 1992, which we recently revisited in a radio documentary.
It is intriguing how these stories of destruction and rebuilding make their way into the public consciousness, creating a kindred relationship between affected parties in the worst of situations. We have been through this before, and for that reason, we feel Oklahoma City's pain. It will not be easy, but the city can and will rise again.
Local radio station Power 96 is having their listeners Instagram photos of OK signs for OKC, which makes for a moving slideshow, especially considering that the Oklahoma City Thunder can be considered Miami Heat rivals ever since our victory over them during the 2012 NBA Finals.
Oklahoma City, we are pulling for you, and we hope to see you again in the Finals!
Below we have collected some of the tweets from South Floridians offering hope to those affected by this devastation.
