After being out of class for more than a week, some South Florida public schools are getting ready to swing back open the doors.
Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said on Saturday all teachers and students must go back to school on Monday, Sept. 18. Students in Palm Beach Schools will also resume Monday.
Miami-Dade Public Schools officials said they would make a decision late Saturday or early Sunday about reopening.
Monroe County schools have set an "aggressive" target date to open Monday, Sept. 25. The district sent a press release Saturday morning.
All personnel should expect to report Thursday, September 21st and Friday and September 22nd. If they are unable to report they are asked to make contact with their principal or immediate supervisor."
Classes at the following colleges and universities also plan to resume on Monday, Sept. 18:
Broward: Broward College, Nova Southeastern University
Miami-Dade: Johnson & Wales University, Miami Dade College, St. Thomas University
Palm Beach: Florida Atlantic University, Lynn University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Palm Beach State College
The University of Miami will be resuming classes on its three campuses over the next two weeks:
RSMAS graduate classes and Medical classes resume Monday, Sept. 18
The Law School on the Coral Gables campus will resume classes on Wednesday, Sept. 20
All other University of Miami classes will resume Monday, Sept. 25
Barry University’s Miami Shores and Law School campuses will resume classes on Tuesday, Sept. 19. All other students should check here for the status of their campus.
Florida Keys Community College remain closed.
