Politics Tuesday: Debates Matter, Especially in Florida

President Obama and Mitt Romney meet in their second presidential debate tonight in Hempstead, NY. Then, Boca Raton becomes the center of the political universe next Monday, October 22 when Lynn University hosts the final encounter between the two candidates before election day.

Perhaps no state has shifted more in the polls than Florida since the first debate on October 3. Last month, President Obama was a point ahead of Romney in a Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald/Tampa Bay Times survey. This month, Romney is up by 7 points (51-44%).

What did Floridians see or hear that has changed their minds so dramatically?

WLRN's Phil Latzman talks with Miami Herald political reporter Marc Caputo, who says over 300,000 Floridians have already voted through absentee ballots.

As soon as the debaters finish tonight, and the reviews are in, attention will be focused on Lynn University in Boca Raton for the final Presidential debate. We will be live from Lynn  Friday, October 19th for a special two-hour edition of the Florida Roundup featuring Marc Caputo, Ken Rudin of NPR, Helen Ferre of Diario Las Americas, current Democratic congressman Ted Deutch and former Republican congressman Mark Foley, and Lynn U. political science professor Dr. Robert Watson.

That's this Friday at noon, the Florida Roundup Debate special at Lynn University.  You can reserve your seat here.
