Park Shooting Adds To List Of 2014 Miami-Dade Mass Shootings

CBS4 News

Nine people were shot and wounded at West Little River Park while playing basketball Monday afternoon.

The shooter allegedly opened fire from the passenger seat of a Nissan Maxima, Miami-Dade County police said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and is in critical but stable condition. Police say the other eight victims were shot in their extremities and are expected to fully recover.

This is the latest shooting in Miami-Dade County. Since this past summer, there have been shootings in Liberty City, a Miami club party and last week in an Overtown apartment complex

A mass shooting at Florida State University last month also drew attention and revived the debate about whether guns should be allowed on college campuses.

Miami-Dade County police are investigating Monday's basketball court shooting in West Little River Park. As of Tuesday morning, police have not determined the shooter's motive.
