New World Symphony Hosts Its First Yoga Night

In its latest experiment with performances and outdoor spaces, New World Symphony will host an evening of music and meditation this Friday.

The symphony is partnering with lululemon to produce a night of classical music and yoga training on the 11th at 7 p.m.

The event is broken down into 30 minutes of music in the concert hall, followed by one hour of yoga exercise in the Miami Beach SoundScape park. The concert features the Overture to The Barber of Seville by Rossini, and the Overture to Der Freishütz by Weber.

The event goers will then walk out the front door to a check-in table leading to the SoundScape park.

It's a first-come, first-choice basis for your yoga mat spot between the SoundScape speakers. (No worries- there is enough room for roughly 700 to 1, 000 people.)

Threelululemon ambassadors will  coach the classical yogis for one hour to a carefully selected playlist--we don't expect too much Wagner here--while visual images project on the 7,000-square-foot wall.

New World Symphony and lululemon are considering making the music and meditation a recurring event. If it goes well, Vice President for Communications of New World Symphony Craig Hall says, "We'd love to do it again."
