Nature: Wild and Wonderful

7pm THIS WILD LIFE: Chaos In The Camp - Nature/Documentary - A young family moves to Samburu in Kenya to run a safari camp for the first time.

Saba, Frank and the children have settled in to their new home at the safari camp, but life in this frontier gets tough as the summer heats up. Saba's guests are accidentally stranded at a remote airstrip in the scorching African sun. The team races to pick them up while Saba makes sure that the camp is ready. Husband Frank puts himself on the frontline in the fight against ivory poachers.

7:30pm WONDER OF ANIMALS: Great Apes - Nature/Documentary

Chris Packham explores the evolution of the great ape's brain to reveal how different parts have been adapted over time by its anatomy, ingenuity and sociability, culminating in one of the most complex brains on the planet. Chris examines how the ability to use two hands asymmetrically sets the great ape apart from other tool-using animals and how social living is linked to the evolution of the amygdala in both humans and our ape cousins. New research reveals how bonobos' peace-loving reputation may have developed through a similar domestication process to that undergone by our pet dogs.

8pm NATURE: Guide to Animal Homes: Location, Location, Location - Nature/Documentary

Finding a good base of operations is key to successfully raising a family. One must find the correct stream or tree, the correct building materials, neighbors and sometimes tenants. In the wild, every home is a unique DIY project, every head of household is a designer and engineer. Animated blueprints and tiny cameras chart the building plans and progress of beavers, tortoises and woodrats, examining layouts and cross sections, evaluating the technical specs of their structures and documenting their problem-solving skills. Animal architecture provides remarkable insights into animal consciousness, creativity and innovation.

9pm WILD SCHOOL: Orangutan - Nature/Documentary - Join a cast of cute and cheeky animal orphans as they learn the vital lessons they need to leave captivity and survive in the wild.

The islands of Indonesia are home to exotic and mysteries creatures who live alongside neighboring humans. It is here where two worlds collide.  Orangutans or "people of the forest" are in danger of losing their home and baby orangutans are losing their mothers.
