Michael Kaeshammer on life and music
By Tracy Fields
Born in Germany, now living in Canada, Michael Kaeshammer's got the sounds of New Orleans in his blood. The boogie-woogie sensation explains how focusing on why he plays rather than how made all the difference in his work. He also talks about splitting his pants on stage and breaking piano strings - not surprising, given that his performances are routinely described as fiery. The Gold Coast Jazz Society presents him Friday at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.
- Michael Kaeshammer talks about how and why he plays piano.
