Miami-Dade Poll, Cuts In Food Stamps, Death Penalty, Bob Marley

A new poll is out that looks at the attitudes of Miamians on numerous issues. The poll was commissioned by WLRN, el Nuevo Herald, the Miami Herald, and Univision 23. It was conducted by Bendixen & Amandi International. In today’s program, we look at what Miami voters feel is important to them - from the mayoral race to gun violence to ournew relations with Cuba.

Hundreds of thousands of Floridians have lost their food stamps since January 1st. It’s because of a new state rule that impacts adults with no children.

A Miami-Dade circuit judge has ruled that Florida’s death penalty is unconstitutional because jurors don’t have to be unanimous. What’s the future of the death penalty in Florida, and should we consider getting rid of it?

We also hear from Florida Power and Light after technical problems kept them from discussing cooling canal cleanup costs - an estimated $50 million bill for customers - during last week’s show.

Plus, it was 35 years ago this week that reggae great Bob Marley passed away in Miami. He died of cancer at age 36. His hit “No Woman, No Cry” started a debate among our news team recently…
