Responsibilities include

Maintaining a portfolio of approximately 75-100 major donors (Circle of Friends), including existing and newly developed donors

  • Corresponding with major donors through email, e-blasts and telephone
  • Maintaining quality and accuracy of information in major donors database     

Stewarding a large pool (2-3000) sustaining members through interactions that advance their relationships with Friends of WLRN and lead to progressively larger gifts

  • Creating and implementing new Sustainer-centered strategies resulting in increased customer service and revenue growth
  • Developing cultivation and solicitation opportunities for self and key managers including Director of Major Gifts and Executive Director
  • Inputting data and receive calls and requests from members as major giving process
  • Championing a high-quality donor experience in all communications and steward relationships through communication to sustainers
  • Learning and implementing innovations in fundraising and donor stewardship techniques and strategy
  • Integrating strategies into documented plans that include timelines, channel selection, offers, ask strings, segmentation, projected response rates and revenue, tests, and expense budgets
  • Developing, participating in and managing member events

Producing progress reports and addressing ad hoc assignments as requested by management

Tracking vendor performance as needed

Seeking and evaluating industry proven cost savings and revenue growth approaches

Recruiting, training and supervising volunteers in a variety of roles that support the organization. 

Qualifications/Characteristics

While not a requirement, a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field of study is preferred

2+ years of major donor development and/or sustainer giving or comparable sale/client service experience

Knowledge of Allegiance or similar donor database/CRM helpful but not required

Work history that includes proven ability to adhere to detailed processes and ensure accuracy

Proven strategic thinking with excellent grammar and writing skills evidenced with past roles

Ability to work on several projects, shifting priorities and with multiple people simultaneously

Demonstrated interest in Public Media, along with an innate desire to learn and be curious
