Legendary Brazilian Singer To Play Free Show July 27 In Hollywood

From the favelas of Brazil to the main stages of North America, legendary Brazilian singer-songwriterSeu Jorge will perform a free show this Saturday at the Hollywood ArtsPark.

Opening sets are by the Brazilian Voices choir and Rose Max's samba set.

Known to many for his Portuguese remakes of David Bowie classics in the critically acclaimed film, "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," Jorge has amassed a large following abroad, particularly in South Florida.

Among the top 25 U.S. communities with the highest percentage of Brazilian-born residents, a total of eight are within Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Jorge grew up in the city of Belford Roxo, just north of Rio de Janeiro. At the age of nineteen, he became homeless for a period of three years. But during that time, his music became famous through the slums.
