Laughter is the Best Medicine

Holidays got you feeling sluggish and overwhelmed?  Make an appointment with the dubious doctor on Wednesday night at 8.  He'll have you laughing until your sides hurt.

8pm DOC MARTIN - Comedy/Drama

He's the grumpy, but lovable doctor with the questionable bedside manner.  He's Doctor Martin Ellingham and this prestigious London surgeon has just relocated to the small fishing village of Portwenn to become the town's general practitioner.  In his sharp suits and flashy car, he's a fish out of water and begins to offend the locals.

The townspeople are not used to the doctor’s blunt opinions and insensitive manners, often leading to mayhem in the town of Portwenn. Caroline Catz plays school teacher Louisa Glasson for whom Doc Martin finds it difficult to express his romantic feelings.

Port Isaac is the setting of the fictional fishing village of Portwenn in DOC MARTIN. It is an old fishing village which has become one of Cornwall’s most popular tourist destinations.

The cast list also features Ian McNeice as local restaurateur and handyman Bert, and Joe Absolom as his tolerant son Al. With their restaurant struggling to stay afloat, Bert and Al often dream up money making schemes - the latest of which means Al is going to have to give up his room and look for somewhere else to live.

The show also stars John Marquez as bumbling local police officer PC Joe Penhale, a man who seems to create more problems than he solves in the process of attempting to instill law and order into the community; and Jessica Ransomas Morwenna Newcross, the doctor's scatterbrained receptionist, who's now looking for love online.

Plus Eileen Atkins appears as the doctor's formidable Aunt Ruth. She doesn't suffer fools, just like her nephew, and doesn't think twice about taking on her neighbors and creating confrontation.

This colorful cast of characters and unconventional plot lines are sure to keep you entertained.  Don't miss your appointment with DOC MARTIN Wednesday nights at 8 on WLRN-TV.
