Early Retirement Leads to A Killer Hobby

9pm - May 3rd AGATHA RAISIN - Crime Drama/Comedy

Meet Agatha Raisin, a former high powered London PR exec turned amateur sleuth in a new crime drama on WLRN.   She's quirky, she's funny, she's fashionable and she has a killer hobby.  After opting for early retirement in the small English town of Carsely, Agatha finds herself immersed in a variety of mysteries and a second career as a part time detective.

Adapted from titles in M.C.Beaton‘s bestselling “Agatha Raisin Mysteries” series of novels, the show stars Ashley Jensen (Extras, Catastrophe, Ugly Betty) as Agatha — a strong, independent, and flawed 40-something woman with a fabulous wardrobe (depending on your taste), a devoted gay best friend, and the subtlety of a brick.

Carsely is no London, which is precisely the point.  Agatha, waxing nostalgic, intends to relive cherished childhood memories in the quaint village. The thing is, that was then and this is now. Plus, you can take the publicity pro out of the big city, but you can’t take the drive to succeed out of the insecure transplant. Therein lies the start of Agatha’s new life as a crime-solver.

If you were ever a fan of MURDER SHE WROTE, you're going to love Agatha Raisin!

In the premiere episode - THE QUICHE OF DEATH - Agatha reveals a recipe for disaster.

AGATHA RAISIN, settles in Carsely – an outwardly sleepy village in scenic surroundings – and attempts to curry favor with the locals, cheating her way into a quiche-making competition with an entry purchased from an urban deli. But the gambit spectacularly backfires when the philandering judge, Major Andy Cummings-Browne, is found poisoned from a killer quiche. The offending crust? ‘Cooked’ by Agatha. Finding herself ostracized and shunned in the village, Agatha begins an amateur investigation into the death. Outspoken, opinionated and never afraid to speak her mind, regardless of the consequences, Agatha shakes up the tranquil world of Carsely, unearthing hidden secrets as she goes.
