Today’s Topical Currents is devoted to chronic pain management and the latest treatment techniques.

Our guests are Dr. Beth Darnell, an associate professor in the division of pain medicine at Stanford University. She’s lived through her own chronic pain experience.

And, Dr. Joseph Alshon, of Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants. He’s developed expertise in helping people reduce opioid dependency.

After graduation from college and an unsatisfying stint in a job that, as he puts it, "paid the bills but for which I had no passion" he found himself contemplating a midlife career change after being laid-off.
