The Best Of British TV! Doc Martin, Scott & Bailey, Midsomer Murders

You can find the best of British comedy and drama every Wednesday night on WLRN Channel 17.

Doc Martin features the misadventures of a curmudgeonly London doctor who makes waves in a sleepy seaside village where he sets up shop.  Scott & Bailey is a clever police procedural in which two female detectives tackle homicide cases along with their own troubled love lives. Midsomer Murders finds treachery and mayhem aplenty in a sleepy country village:

Doc Martin: Nowt So Queer (8:00 p.m.) 

Portwenn is buzzing with the news of the engagement of Dr Martin Ellingham and Headmistress Louisa Glasson. Mushrooms are the cause of an outbreak of aspergillosis in the village. Bert Large, postman Dave and restaurant chef Mick Mabley are among the victims. Bert Large's ill health is not his only problem. His restaurant is in financial trouble. Son Al decides it is time to take action to save the business.

Midsomer Murders: Painted in Blood, Part 1 (10:00 p.m.)

Midsomer Murders
When Joyce Barnaby finds a dead woman while painting watercolors of Midsomer Florey she unwittingly uncovers a nest of plots and double- dealings.

Isobel Hewitt is an affluent pensioner with a young lover. Duncan Golf is a GP in the Village of Malham Bridge who is rumored to be having an affair. When the corpses of Isobel and Duncan are discovered by the river alongside one another, Barnaby and Troy embark on an investigation which uncovers a deep vein of resentment running through the village.
