With over 80 short films submitted from more than 39 countries, the Miami Short Film Festival is back for its 12th year to showcase a selection of the best short films from around the world. Attracting filmmakers, industry executives, Miami locals and visitors alike, the film festival provides a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to share and appreciate excellence in the art of filmmaking.
“The first films ever made were short films,” says founder and director William Vela. “At the 2013 festival, we are paying special attention to the short film as part of cinema's roots. At the same time we look at what is happening in the world around us by showcasing several films that scrutinize our relationship with our environments—natural, political, social, even spiritual.”
The 12th Annual Miami Short Film Festival will be held November 8-15, 2013. During the eight-day event, short films of 20 minutes or less will be screened according to the festival schedule at both Paragon Grove 13 in Coconut Grove and Miami Beach Cinematheque located in the Historic City Hall on South Beach.
