Deborah Acosta is a multimedia journalist, videographer, and crowdsourcer for WLRN and The Miami Herald. She runs the Public Insight Network, an online community of people who have agreed to share their insights with The Miami Herald and WLRN.  She’s an adjunct professor at The University of Miami teaching Social Media for Journalists, and holds a Master in Multimedia Journalism from The University of Miami.  Before The Miami Herald, Deborah worked for the Knight Center for International Media and was sent all over the world on video assignments.

Confusion Among Miami-Dade Voters On Election Day

Voters cast their absentee ballots at the Elections Headquarters in Doral on election day.

South Floridians were still in lines voting on Tuesday evening when Barack Obama was re-elected as president of the United States. Many locals expressed disappointment in the leadership of Miami-Dade's office of elections, especially after the incident that occurred last Sunday, when the Elections Department Headquarters in the City of Doral shut down for an hour and tried to turn 200 voters away from the poll.

What Jewish Voters Had To Say At Presidential Debate Last Night

The third and final presidential debate took place last night at Lynn University in Boca Raton. President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney sparred over various foreign policy issues, but seemed to agree on one thing: their allegiance to Israel.

Obama At UM: Behind in the polls but still getting laughs

President Obama came to Florida yesterday to find himself trailing Mitt Romney by seven points in the latest Mason-Dixon poll. Many agree, it’s the result of his lackluster debate performance last week.

And that's what the president tried to make up for during a rally at the University of Miami. Sounding confident and energetic, the president covered the points he overlooked during the debate -- passing Obamacare, killing Osama bin Laden and ending the war in Iraq.
