The 58th (Sometimes) Annual Capitol Press Corps Skits took the stage at The Moon nightclub in Tallahassee this week.

Members of the media lampooned lawmakers - and themselves – while raising money for the Barbara Frye Scholarship fund.

The crowd was treated to skits with titles like “Ethics Reform School,” “Jenny Wants Respect” (poking fun at Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, whose resignation was announced the next day), and “Rick Should Retire.”

Tagged Vultures May Solve Mystery About Why They Attack Cars In The Everglades

In January, WLRN reported on the curious -- and destructive -- habits of some of the Everglades National Park's vulture population. The birds have been reported to "attack" parked vehicles, picking off rubber and vinyl. The baffling and costly behavior has led Everglades' staff to pass out anti-vulture kits to park visitors. It has also motivated state conservationalists and scientists to look into the matter more thoroughly.

Rep. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, says the Florida Legislature had two years to craft an alternative plan for Medicaid expansion and chose not to.

Pope Francis may not be from the United States, but for many in South Florida, the fact that he's from Argentina is even better.

Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski has hailed the selection of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio as a "great thing” for the hemisphere, and called the new Pope an American.

“Latin America, as Pope Benedict described it, is the continent of hope. And it is the continent in which we have the largest growing number of Catholics in the world.”

Wenski believes it was a shrewd political move by The Vatican to look to the Americas for its new leader.
